Reblog: 104 year old USMC Vet looking for Valentine’s Day Cards

Valentine’s Day is one-month from today!

Maj. Bill White served in World War II, survived the Battle of Iwo Jima and went on to continue a long career in the U.S. Marine Corps.

White keeps his proudest memories tucked away on his bookshelf and the 104-year-old veteran said he’s hoping his collection grows a little bigger this Valentine’s Day.

    1. I’m sorry to hear about your son’s loss. Valentine’s Day is also my husband’s birthday. I figured this one post would catch your eye. I read where Lavinia Ross had planted a tree in honor of your son. (We really are an intertwined blogging community.)

      1. I’m talking about Lavinia separately because she deserves it. Such a special person. Can you imagine a Sequoia!! That’ll be around long after all of us. I am so grateful to her and Rick!!

  1. GP, the loss of a close family member is painful and can remain ever-fresh. To say he died serving his country doesn’t lessen the pain. A Sequoia is one heck of a tribute and will outlast anything we can build or write. That is a wonderful tribute to your son and to you. Lavinia is a wonderful person and my only complaint is that I wish she had time to blog more frequently because I love the lyricism in her posts. Greatly appreciate the shout out on the USMC Vet and his desire for Valentine’s Day cards.
