Privilege is having more than one cup to drink out of. It’s being able to pay exorbitant prices for toilet paper or hand sanitizer or face masks during a crisis. It’s not having to worry about how we’re going to eat or keep a roof over our heads next week….

  8. Thanks for linking to that blog, especially that particular post. As you know, I don’t follow blogs at a — well, except yours, of course — but I will start following that one. I forwarded it to my kids along with a note to share it with the grandchildren, or at least ponder it while sharing other things.

  10. Without a doubt, this article moves us to look more at our environment in such difficult times. I live in Chile and there is a sector of the population that was dedicated to street trade and that now has no income of any kind and there is no way to feed the family. Instead, one has all the comforts within the compound. Of course, we can’t do much to solve your problems, but at least we can help if you ask for collaboration, as they are doing, by donating food, used clothes, you have to agree to be as generous as possible.
    It is not to calm conscience, but the intention to put a grain of sand and not look the other way.

  12. Very good. Some of us – the privileged – know the truth of this but need the reminder. Maybe the younger ones in the video realised it for the first time. A powerful couple of minutes.

  13. Thanks, Roy. I agree. I have to keep reminding myself that boredom in a comfortable home with lots of things to do is much better than worrying about how to pay for lodging, food, or utilities.
