Twinkle Twinkle Little Troll

I heard some elected officials tonight share some of the death threats that trolls have made against their homes, children (identified by name), and other family members. Brave, brave anonymous trolls

Twinkle Twinkle little troll
safely hidden in your hole
making death threads at some kids.
Have you finally flip you lids?
Are you so brave by light of day
or do you simply wither away?

Twinkle twinkle little troll
what did the devil pay for your soul?
Did you exchange your bravery
for social media slavery?
Do you believe the lies you spread
that the children you target are better dead?

  1. A good poem about bad people. Like so many good things in life, freedom of speech has been hijacked by those who think it’s their right to intimidate people. One person’s freedom of speech can be another person’s prison.

  2. Great poem Pat! There should be zero tolerance for those who would threaten anyoneโ€™s freedom of speech! Intolerance and ignorance are ruling so many societies, here in Europe and in the Americas…

      1. If their chances of being discovered and caught were higher you would not hear of most of those trolls, of course, some are dumb enough that will risk getting caught anyways…

          1. Well, in my previous line of work…in Miami…I ran into many of these tough types that once confronted they cried like babies… ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š

          2. He wasn’t a troll, but in 2017, when Charlottesville was invaded by the white supremacists and neo-Nazis, one guy attended who showed himself working out at the gym so he would be big and muscled enough to confront people. Once he was about to be arrested for damaging property, they showed him on television balling like a baby; he became Christopher Cantwell, the Crying Nazi.

  3. A pitch-perfect poem, Pat. I guess many of those people would have been the ones who would have only dared to act from within a mob or a crowd, where they were less likely to be found out. Social media gives them a great opportunity to try to bully and intimidate anybody. I agree with Francisco and with your take on it. Thanks for sharing this.

  4. This is such a savage poem, a hit on their stupid faces ๐Ÿ˜‚
Trolls are some silly people hiding behind computers who may, in real life, actually pretend to be sensible too. They come in all shapes, sizes and patterns.
This poem is a tight tight slap and I wish they can feel it through the words ๐Ÿ˜„

  5. Thanks, Sam. People can self-justify their behavior for the strangest reasons and I think that the cloak of invisibility encourages them to act out in unbelievable ways.

  6. Sadly, we have just had an MP, Sir David Amess, murdered by someone in the community, a suspected act of terrorism. This is the second MP that has been murdered in the UK – Jo Cox was murdered in 2016 by someone in her constituency with far-right views.
