This is the third year of National Personal Space Day.
National Personal Space Day “November 30th promotes kindness toward sensitivities and supports healing by recognizing everyone’s right to decide when and how to be touched, or not.
Touch can hurt. Germs can harm.
The day provides an opportunity to be aware of a person’s unspoken need for space or a gentler touch. When you see someone wearing the peach symbol, forgo the handshake or hug and offer a genuine smile instead and offer another way to show you care.”

I’ll forgive the wordplay 🙂

If you don’t include the number of times I’ve been beaten up, it’s a problem I’ve never encountered, so it’s a good idea for those who feel intimidated by other people to let them know.

I hope you are kidding and not being literal, Malc. Some people do not like to be touched and each person/culture has its own concept of personal space. COVID has made this even more important.

LOL, that I can believe. I did not make that phrase up–it was used to describe a former colleague of mine. He has some type of learning or behavioral condition. He would learn something, do it brilliantly for a few weeks and then decide he had never been shown how to do it. He was educated and could be quite witty, then his remarks could become increasingly inappropriate. When someone called him on it, he would entire the third stage, which was to say nothing to anyone. I liked the witty and the silent stage more than the inappropriate stage.,

That is so strange Pat, in Spain everybody touches each other, kisses each cheek and give great hugs…

Many Europeans are more effusive than in the States. You lived in Miami and I think the Latino culture may be more demonstrative than most Anglos.

Yes, COVID has provided an understood reason for people who like or need their space.
