  1. While it is ‘safe’ to say a book is “just a different combination of 26 letters” in English (and German and French), other languages have anywhere from 21 (Italian) to 74 (Khymer) letters. But whatever the language, “A house without books is like a room without windows.” –Horace Mann.

  2. The arrangement of those letters, just like musical notes, is what separates us mere mortals from those who have the ability to communicate with the rest of us in a way that makes a difference to our everyday lives.
