When the sun slants in through the window just so
the stained glass puts on a colorful show
decorating the walls with color and swirls
some lines are straight and others are curls
Some patterns crisp like geometric design
Others soft images, both look quite fine
A gift from the sun for those in the pews
If the sermon is boring, you can come for the views.
Brilliant poem, Pat, but I have stained glass top parts of some of my windows and can also enjoy the swirls and rainbow by hanging crystals in the windows.
When I was a child, one of my aunts had a living room window with a section of stained glass at the top. That was the first I ever knew you could have that outside of a church:)
Your poem made me smile: good descriptions, but humorous, too!

Lovely poem Pat and I love stained glass too, especially when the sunlight reflects the colours onto a stone floor.

Great poem, Pat. Reminds me of the countless times I spent admiring the windows in the church while the priest droned on.

Wonderful, Pat! I love stained glass and did spend quite a bit of time as a young girl looking at the windows in my church:)

Some older houses did have stained glass as accents. They are lovely so see. Sometimes you can see them in old townhouses in small towns.

Thanks, Michele. I love looking at stained glass. It’s also peaceful to color it in a coloring book.
