In Library School I traced the publishing history of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. One of Jane’s quotes I included
“the little bit (two Inches wide) of Ivory on which I work with so fine a Brush, as produces little effect after much labour.”
Six years later, When I saw how small her writing table (which is not to be confused her
travel writing desk) at her home in Chawton, England, I realized she did not have much space to write on.
